Team: Callum, Evie, Ollie, Brad, Sean, Kai, Rahim, Ash and Chris.
Pumas played hosts to Stanground and were determined to bounce back from their game from the previous weekend. The team took on board the message from the dugout that they needed to start the game at lightening pace. We've been a little slow to start our games have been caught out at the start of games so this week saw the team out to prove they had it in them to be quick thinking with the ball while keeping that pressure on.
Unfortunately Stanground were struggling for numbers due to absences, playing the game without any subs however they deserve credit for their determination to do their best. It took us a good few attempts on goal to break the game after some resilient defence and great goalkeeping. They played right to the end and this is something all us coaches love to see.
As the game went on, our creativity improved and the decisions the team were making to get the ball up the field and working together were great. We played the ball out wide, dribbled with it, took players on and were unselfish on setting up each other for the shots on goal. We maintained a solid defence line throughout the game only on occasions sitting a bit too high and letting the ball bounce over our heads. Despite this the players quick reactions and movement enabled them to recover on the counter attacks from Stanground. The team did well on defending our goal and quickly moving the ball back up the pitch.
It was great to see the team playing the football they can and it thoroughly enjoyable to watch.
Goals: Rahim(2), Ash(2), Ollie(1) and Kai(1).
As usual, thanks to the parents for the great support and for helping take the equipment back into storage.
