On a grey Saturday morning at Bretton Park, Phoenix kicked off and quickly raced into the lead. The Pumas then showed some excellent skill and will to win with Orlando putting in some excellent tackles and Charlie and Hassan playing some brilliant passes. Theo was in goal and made a superb save from the Phoenix striker to keep the Pumas in the game.
As Phoenix scored a couple more goals, the Pumas continued to pass, tackle and dribble with Harrison working hard as the striker and forcing a great save from the Phoenix goalie. Jack was playing well in defence keeping out the Phoenix attack but neither he. Or Charlie in goal could do anything about the 6th Phoenix goal which was a thumping free kick from No.10. Another couple of Phoenix goals made their way into the Pumas net before half time.
In the 3rd quarter of the game, the Pumas did very well, passing the ball and working as a team. We saw Theo, Harrison and Orlando all putting in great tackles and working hard for their team. The ref did very well to spot a handball from a Pumas player and the Phoenix striker cooly converted the spot kick.
In the 4th quarter, the Pumas continued to show brilliant fighting spirit and never gave up whilst always encouraging each other. This kind of dedication and playing with a smile on our faces will stand us in good stead in the weeks to come.
Well done to all of the players that wore the Pumas shirt proudly today.
Our thanks to the friendly players, coaches and supporters of Phoenix FC and we wish them all the best for the rest of the season. Our thanks also to the referee of today's game.
After the league game, we went on to play a friendly match between the 2 teams. With both teams fielding many players that didn't take part in the league game. It was a very close and exciting game with the Pumas team showing amazing team spirit and skill.
See you all next week for the U7 first home game of the season.
COME ON PUMAS
