After a tough run of results in the league our attention turned to the County Cup quarter final away at Yaxley. The lads have been working hard in training and it really showed today. Yaxley started fast and with us playing a new formation they took the lead from a deflected shot after only three minutes. Thankfully the team gathered themselves very quickly and after some attacking pressure and a great header from Ivan into Elias we were level after ten minutes! Yaxley kicked off and John was quick to win the ball in midfield, one simple pass between the defenders and Mihai was happy to make it two one a minute later! The game calmed down after that and we control the midfield creating lots of chance. Yaxley defended well but a minute before halftime Mihai was alive to a rebound from a great save by the Yaxley keeper to make it three one to us.
Yaxley had a bit of a resurge at the start of the second half but we defended well and after freshening things up with some subs Ivan was able to play Elias in again on sixty two minute for him to grab his second goal and making it four one. We continued to work very hard in midfield and defence and with seventy seven minutes on the clock we broke out from the back. Tyrese knocked the ball into the path of Fernando who burst through the defence to add a fifth. The game end five one to us, the whole squad worked so hard today and deserved the win. Well done Pumas, we have a massive semi final to look forward against Stanground in a couple of weeks.
