U16 Reds get over the line

Can we go a whole league campaign unbeaten, there’s only one way to find out……
- Gary Taubert

So following our away game to Yaxley FC last Sunday, we managed to deliver a 3 - 1 victory and gain 3 points to secure the league title with games to spare.

This is a fantastic achievement for a fantastic young group of lads.
Despite on paper looking comfortable sitting 15 points clear at the top, football is not played on paper and although the big margin on points is evident it hasn’t come easy.
The team have had to work hard for every point all season both at training and on the pitch, and that is what has made it so special and why they deserve their success to date this season.

They have built up a momentum that has only got stronger with hard work as the season has progressed and is almost at its final conclusion with two games to go.

The team are unique in that they have such a close bond with each other, like a family, or a brotherhood and endeavour to succeed together and help each other out.
This is coupled with individual hard work by each and every one of them.

We have faced a variety of challenges all season but have managed to overcome them as a group.

As coaches, we are extremely proud and feel privileged to work with such a fantastic group of lads week in week out.
The lads have really bought into to what we are trying to achieve and how we want to be perceived wherever we are, respectful!!!
It is not uncommon to receive great feedback from match officials, opposition parents and coaches, with regards to the team’s behaviour and respectful ethos, as well as how well they have performed on the pitch of course.
As coaches, of course we want to improve the lads as football players but we also want to influence them in a positive way, and try to encourage respect and positive behaviour, which is easily accomplished as they already hold these qualities.

Outside of the team we have tremendous support, firstly from Sam, who runs the line for the team. Running the line is a thankless task, but Sam never complains and is there week in week out, come rain, wind or shine and does a fantastic job and is truly appreciated and we really do thank you Sam.

We also have tremendous support from our parents, grand parents, family members and friends every week. I think we must have the biggest support at every game, whether at home or an hours travel away, we can rely on terrific and dedicated support.
This is also something that is really appreciated by the lads, and us coaches, so thank you so much for all your support.

Lastly and most importantly I would like to thank the team.
You show up week in week out and put the effort in. As a result, together you have formed something pretty special, and I don’t mean just with the ball!! This season we have witnessed great team football but also a welcoming team to new players and members, a desire to help each other in a constructive manner, mentorship, politeness, respect to each other, their coaches, opposition and officials, hard work and a fantastic team spirit to mention a few of the fantastic traits that these lads hold, so thank you lads for everything.

So, 2 games to go, could we go a whole league campaign unbeaten, there’s only one way to find out……
Go get them lads!!!!
