Why is your child's team taking part in the Silent Support weekend?
The PDJAL (U7-U14), are supporting the FA silent support weekend initiative. As a member club we are required to participate. The league may have decided to participate because :
- Players have said that they are confused or distracted by too much noise coming from the sideline
- There have been reports of poor behaviours on sidelines involving our league or club, or
- To support other clubs in our league who may be experiencing behavioural issues with spectators on the sidelines.
Ideas for parents during Silent Support weekend
- Before the match - Let your child know that even though they won't hear your voice you are still supporting them!
- During the match - Show your appreciation for good play by clapping - Every player will hear this and and enjoy the support!
- After the match - Tell your child you liked all the good things they did in the game - It's such a confidence booster!
Always remember - Staying quiet means every player hears their coaches voice when needed, without the coach having to shout over everyone else.
