Park Farm Pumas U13 Reds capped off an unforgettable weekend by securing an impressive fourth-place finish after competing among the top eight teams on Sunday, following a dominant group-stage performance the day before.
Drawn into a challenging, featuring strong JPL opposition from Essex and a further two Dutch sides, the stage was set for a real test. With the level noticeably raised, the tournament provided a fantastic opportunity for the boys to challenge themselves against high-quality teams—and they rose to the occasion.
The opening match proved to be a tough encounter against a Championship-level JPL team. Despite matching their opponents from the first whistle to the last, the Pumas were ultimately undone by clinical finishing. While the result didn’t go their way, the effort, determination, and attitude on display could not be faulted.
Game two saw a strong response. Facing an energetic, pressing team, the Pumas dug deep and began to find their rhythm in front of goal. A series of well-worked team moves resulted in some excellent goals, showcasing their attacking quality and teamwork.
Heading into the final group game, it was a must-win scenario—and the team delivered under pressure. The captain stepped up with a rocket of a strike that left the goalkeeper rooted, securing a vital victory and a place in the 3rd/4th playoff.
The playoff itself was packed with drama. Trailing late on, the Pumas showed incredible resilience to grab an equaliser with just four minutes remaining, making it 1–1 and forcing a penalty shootout. Despite their efforts, it wasn’t their day from the spot, and they narrowly missed out on third place.
The players represented themselves and the club with pride, showing not only quality on the pitch but also maturity and sportsmanship off it.
More than just results, the weekend was about growth, bonding, and creating lasting memories. The experience has strengthened the squad and fuelled their determination to finish the season strongly.
A huge well done to the entire team—they are a true credit to themselves, their families, and the club.
