Going from the tallest to the shortest.

So, our under 14s Red team have today completed our final game as juniors and will move to youth football next season.

As a coach I started with the Pumas assisting my sons Under 8s coach, completing the FA courses and gaining experience with various Pumas coaches along the way.

To watch my son enjoy playing football with his friends, week in week out is fantastic but to be a part of his football journey is something special, and that can be said about his friends, teammates, our Puma family too.

I still remember when I was the tallest person at training, wiping noses, tying shoelaces and being there through tears, happiness and absolutely bizarre questions!!

This is a thing of the past, as I’m one of the shortest nowadays!!!
It’s like it happened overnight but to be a part of their football journey is an absolute pleasure.
The maturity that they have shown over the years is incredible and something so rewarding as a coach.

Along my journey I have witnessed our Pumas grow into teenagers with too many special moments along the way to mention.

It doesn’t matter how bad a day you have had, it is all made better when you arrive at training and are greeted with a team of Pumas with a smile on their faces and a “how are you” “how’s your day been”, it’s something truly special.

I am privileged to coach such a fantastic group of genuinely nice, kind hearted teenagers who have stuck together as a team through all challenges that we have faced together over the years.
I feel extremely proud to be their coach, despite them towering over me these days and am grateful for all their dedication, effort, team work and banter over the years and look forward to more as we approach youth football.
Onto the next chapter lads, keep up the fantastic work and thank you for everything to date.

One of the key memories of my own football journey is the coaches I had as an under 8 through to U17s football way back now.
They were fantastic and made such a positive impact on me growing up and I can only hope to pass this on as a coach, it is something really important to me and something I strive for week in week out, and although I’m not perfect, I’m there for those Pumas, just like my coaches were there for me.

It was one of the best things I’ve done, turning that thought of “that looks fun, I could do that” into a reality and over 6 years later it’s still rewarding and something special and something I would urge anyone with a keen interest to give a go, you won’t be disappointed.

Come on you PUMAS ⚽️
